‘Interpretability of Deep Neural Networks for Radiomics’

funded by (Polish) National Center of Science and The European Commission

(2020/02/Y/ST6/00071)

Terms of employment

Selected candidate will be employed as full-time researcher (pol. adiunkt). The duration of employment is for 17 months. The expected starting date is around 1st of February 2022 (to be agreed). The offered salary approx. 7 550 PLN gross/month.

Description of the project

Interpretability of Deep Neural Networks for Radiomics (INFORM) is a CHIST ERA project funded by National Center of Science and the Horizon 2020 Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) programme of the European Union. Comprised of scientific groups from Poland (Institute of Informatics, University of Warsaw), France (Laboratory of Medical Information Processing, University of West Brittany), and Greece (BioEmTech), we aim to develop interpretable deep neural networks to classify and predict cancer based on medical imaging. We particularly focus on interpretability and explainability, as to contribute to fundamental understanding and to enable adaptation of deep learning in medicine. For further details, please refer to https://www.chistera.eu/projects/inform

This call seeks a highly motivated post doctoral scientist to develop and apply deep learning methods for radiomics. Their research agendas will include:

• Evaluating interpretable machine learning approaches for cancer prognosis

• Integrating and explaining radiomic and deep learning features

• Developing unsupervised deep learning approaches for medical imaging

• Creating state of the art classifiers for cancer based on CT and MRI

• Developing innovative algorithms for interpretable deep learning

Requirements

1. Ph.D. in computer science, physics and related fields (before the start of employment)

2. Extensive experience in implementing deep neural networks using PyTorch and/or Tensorflow

3. Publication and conference presentation, preferably in machine learning and computer science

4. Understanding of computer vision and medical imaging

Applications

In order to apply for the position candidates should send an e-mail entitled POSTDOC to [email protected] and submit the following documents as attached pdf files:

1. a cover letter addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw together with the personal data clause (attached);

2. a copy of the PhD diploma;

3. a scientific CV with a list of publications;

4. list of references (contact info of min 2 individuals)

Application deadline: 31th of December, 2021

Applications which do not satisfy the above requirements or are submitted after the deadline will not be considered for the position. The applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw. The committee will prepare the ranking list till 15.01.2022. The competition is the first stage of the recruitment process as described in the Statute of the University of Warsaw, the recommendation by the selection committee being a basis for its subsequent stages.
