LUMS is a private, not-for-profit comprehensive university that has become one of South-Asia’s top academic institutions and Pakistan’s leading research-intensive universities. LUMS collectively offers 45 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programmes through its schools of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Law, and Education. Driven by the perspective of learning without borders, LUMS vision integrates the work of disciplines, amplifies transdisciplinary centres, and bridges the gap between academia and various public and private sectors.  As of fall 2022, LUMS has 5,513 students enrolled, 16,977 alumni and 260 faculty members holding doctorate degrees from leading global institutions like Stanford, MIT, Yale, Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) will strengthen the University’s strategic priorities and advance LUMS to the next level. They will support research initiatives and teaching excellence, advance governance and amplify the institution’s recognition at the global level. They will foster strong partnerships and collaborations including external and internal stakeholders across with academia and industry and at local and international levels. As the leading spokesperson of the University, the Vice Chancellor interacts with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, the community and the public, and acts as an ambassador for higher education nationally, regionally, and internationally.

The ideal candidate will come to the role with the necessary energy, optimism, motivation, and commitment to build upon the university’s significant strengths. They will possess the transparent and collaborative leadership skills required to advance the University’s strategic perspective of learning without borders meaningfully across a complex institution. An inclusive and inspiring people leader, they will have experience working effectively with a Board as well as significant skills related to external engagement, fundraising and experience handling complex budgets. Carrying themselves with integrity and humility, they will be capable of championing LUMS’ commitment to inclusive excellence and inspiring, building, and supporting a culture that enables students, faculty, and staff to thrive.
