Researcher in Chemistry (ref 224645)

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 02 May 2022

This researcher position is open as a part of the INTRICat project (Analyzing Intermediates of Reactions and Isomers in Catalysis Engineering with Advanced Ion Mass-Spectrometry) funded by the Finnish Academy of Sciences and cosupervised by Prof. Unni Olsbye (University of Oslo, Norway) and Prof. Marko Huttula (University of Oulu, Finland).

This collaborative project aims at utilizing advanced mass-spectrometry (electron-impact and photoionization, quadrupole and time of flight mass separation) and electron spectroscopy methods (UPS, XPS) for the analysis of sustainability-relevant zeolite-catalyzed reactions, particularly within the sub-ambient and high vacuum pressure regimes. By using these advanced methods, we hope to resolve isomer-specific reaction kinetics and better understand complex reaction mechanisms.

The researcher will be involved in the implementation of novel experiments (instrument development), conduct laboratory-based experiments with the Temporal Analysis of Products (TAP) reactor system, and employ complex data analysis methods (signal processing, chemometrics, transport-reaction modeling). This work will be conducted within an international team of researchers (Norway, Finland, Sweden) and will involve experimental campaigns at large scale synchrotron radiation facilities.
