Research Assistant

At the Art Academy - Department of Contemporary Art there is a vacancy for a fixed-term 50% position as a research assistant for two years related to the Master Program in Contemporary Art with desired start date in September 2024. 

Work tasks:

We are searching for a research assistant whose main task is the subject specific coordination of the master's program in contemporary art. The assistant will be participating in an exciting phase of the program, be part of a dynamic teaching environment and receive good development possibilities related to teaching, learning and research.  

Research assistant is a recruitment position where the primary responsibility is to be a support for the artistic/academic staff in their teaching and research work. The position will provide insight into artistic development work and methodology relevant for ph.d. study The combined employment cannot exceed two years. 

Work tasks: 

  • Subject specific coordination of student learning activities, including seminars, exhibitions, , exams and admissions 
  • Facilitation of students studio provision connected to MA ART modules
  • Collaboration with program board and all module leaders for the master Program
  • Collaboration with the Research Assistant for BA Fine Art
  • Contribute too MA Program development

  • Master's degree, preferably within contemporary art 
  • Good language knowledge and formulation skills in Norwegian or English, oral and written  
  • Be able to work independently, be responsible and flexible 
  • Be service minded and engaged 
  • Have good collaboration skills and a structured way of working 
  • Knowledge of contemporary art

  • Salary as a research assistant (code 1020) according to salary steps 46 - 47 in the state salary regulations, depending on service seniority and qualifications. This currently emits NOK 472 900 – 480 900 gross in a full-time position. For particularly qualified applicants, it may be relevant to consider the high fee.
