About the position 

Applicants are invited for a two-year position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Electric Power Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway. The candidate will be part of an Electricity Market and Energy System Planning (EMESP) research group. 

The postdoctoral position is connected to the NTNU Energy Transition Initiative which NTNU Energy Transition is a multidisciplinary hub of researchers and industry members. We are advisors on the transition to future energy systems, and we provide strategies that move sustainable solutions to the marketplace. Innovators and decision makers in industry and government offer research opportunities, and in turn participate in research activities that advance shared objectives and work towards realizing sustainable future energy systems. 


NETI covers several research fields related to the world’s energy challenges, and the Department of Electric Power Engineering has a key role in the research areas pertaining to electric power systems, and in particular:

  • Electrification of the energy system (moving from fossil energy carriers to electricity)
  • Integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage in the power system
  • Design and analysis of electricity markets for power systems with high penetration of renewable energy

The Postdoctorl Fellow will conduct research in one or more of these areas, which also are core research areas of the EMESP group at the department.

You will report to the Head of Department.
