About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applicants for a three-year postdoctoral position in Labour Economics at the Department of Economics .

The Department has high ambitions in terms of research where the main research areas are Labour Economics, Industrial Organisation, Behavioural Economics, Macro- and Resource Economics, International Trade, Development Economics and Applied Microeconomics.

The postdoctoral research fellow will be working on the project “EquiFirm Challenges to shaping an inclusive work-life in rapidly changing labour markets: Firms, Human capital, and Family policy” together with an international research group led by NHH Professor Astrid Kunze. It is preferred that the candidate is interested in at least one of the following fields: Labour Economics, Gender Economics, Management, Industrial Organisation, Micro-Econometrics and register data. The project is financed by the Norwegian Research Council.

The Department of Economics is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals. We are looking for an excellent empirical economist with expected completion of a PhD no later than the date of commencement. In the assessment of applicants criteria include qualifications regarding experience with empirical research, econometric analysis of large panel datasets and register data, economic modelling, econometric modelling, previous training and/or interest in the relevant fields to EquiFirm (e.g. human capital, organisations, diversity in firms, discriminatory behaviour, careers, early careers, occupational careers, promotions, mobility, corporate governance, strategic human capital, legal framework of institutions). In addition, programming skills and data handling experience are important for the work on large register data in this project.  

The postdoctoral research fellow is provided with personal computers, printer access, extensive library resources, and a wide range of software. The research group of EquiFirm has been granted access to Norwegian register data for this project. The position is based in Bergen, Norway, but research travel will be encouraged and there are also opportunities for research stays at collaborating institutions.

The department encourages interaction between research fellows and faculty through social gatherings and a wide variety of seminars and workshops in which all faculty are fully involved.
