Postdoctoral Fellowship(s) in modeling of intracellular membranes (ref 225932) (# of pos: 2)

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 26 May 2022

One or two 3-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship(s) is/are available at the Department of Mathematics, Section for Mechanics at the University of Oslo (UiO). The positions are part of large interdisciplinary projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and the Life Science Initiative at UiO, which focuses on the development of mathematical models and numerical simulations of cell membrane dynamics. More specifically, it will address the basic mechanochemical processes that regulate one of the most fundamental communication pathways in cell biology - the encapsulation and internalization of liquid and transmembrane cargo at intracellular membranes. The Postdoctoral Fellow(s) will be part of the group of Prof. Andreas Carlson (https://acarlson-uio.github.io ), where the work will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental cell biologists and bio-chemists at UiO and Oslo University Hospital.

The Postdoctoral Fellow(s) will:

  • Develop and solve numerically biophysical models of the double-membrane wrapping process in autophagy.
  • Work in close collaboration with experimentalists in cell biology and bio-chemistry.
  • Join a research group with broad expertise in mechanics, physics and biophysics.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
