Postdoctoral fellow in Cancer Biology

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: 23 Mar 2023

The Halberg lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in spatial cancer biology to join our growing team. Our lab uses systems biology tools to understand the mechanistic interplay between physiological stressors and tumor risk. A major focus has so far been to identify the key regulators of obesity-linked tumor initiation. We find that obesity engenders a strong selective pressure on cancer cell populations rendering them more stem-like. We are currently interested in understanding how obesity affects the spatial interaction between cancer cell subpopulations and members of the tumor microenvironment. This includes the use of high-dimensional imaging technologies (imaging mass cytometry and Merscope) on both mouse and patient biobank material. More information about the team and our projects can be found on our website: www.halberglab.com .

The University of Bergen is located between 7 mountains and provides rich opportunities to couple world-class science, and training for a career in academia or industry with the great outdoors. We strive to train the next generation of scientists through an inclusive work environment that allows all member to grow.

Candidates with recent MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degrees and experience in (spatial) cancer biology, advanced image analysis or metabolism are encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should send 1) a cover letter describing their background, research interests, and career goals and 2) CV with a bibliography to [email protected] .
