About the job
We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Atomistic Modelling of Electrolytes for Battery Applications, at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway and is a collaborative project with industrial partners.
The postdoctoral fellowship position is a temporary position where the main goal is to qualify for a senior academic position.
The accepted fellow will do research on electrolytes for aluminium anode batteries using classical molecular simulations, DFT, and Machine Learning. The project will focus on fundamental understanding of solvation- and transport properties of aluminium ions in liquid electrolytes. As part of the project, the fellow will develop a strategy to search for and identify new electrolyte mixtures with improved performance.
Duties of the position
- Use computer simulations to model solvation, thermodynamic- and transport properties of aluminium in battery electrolytes.
- Develop a search strategy to identify new and improved electrolyte mixtures for application in aluminium batteries.
- Integrate Machine Learning into the workflow, accelerating the search for new electrolyte mixtures.
- Verify computational models against experimental data.
- Communicate results with project partners, adapt computer codes and data for publications and general dissemination.
The fellow is expected to actively participate in the battery community at NTNU and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. This involves participating in supervision of master and PhD-students, contributing to discussions, and development of projects.
The fellow is expected to participate at conferences, and present work at relevant venues.
