This is a cross-disciplinary project between mathematics, chemistry, and physics that will concentrate on theoretical questions central to noise-resistant quantum computation and its application to many-body theory and information processing. Working on a true interdisciplinary project, the fellow will spend part of the time at the Department of Mathematics together with other fellows and senior researchers on the QOMBINE project, who work on related topics in a stimulating environment.

As part of this initiative we offer a PhD-position in physics focused on the topic of error correction of quantum information in the context of current quantum devices where full quantum error correction is not feasible.

We will combine analytical and numerical methods of modern classical and quantum theory.

The exact topic of the PhD project will be specified taking into account the candidate’s interests.
