About the position

The Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine has a vacancy for an experienced scientist with statistical competence in epidemiology/health registry data.

The project seeks data analysis competence for one, or more than one person, in 20-100% position, with funding lasting until 31.12 2023. Possibilities for a 100% position for at least the year is possible for a very suitable candidate. The successful candidate is expected to start during winter/spring of 2022.

The scientist will be affiliated with epidemiological research in Childhood Airway Infection research group (CAIR) and with ILCAP: “Improved life course in children and adults born preterm” at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine.

We use data from nationwide registries and modern epidemiologic methods to study underlying risk and protective factors for health and disease in children with airway infections and in people born preterm. Through collaboration with researchers in other Nordic countries, we aim at joint analysis of the national cohorts.

Duties of the position

The main tasks of the scientist are related to the technical/analyses aspects of registry data , including data management, preparations and analyses, administration of the remote access solution together with the IT departments of the participating institutions and assisting PhD students and researchers with statistical analyses and graphically displaying results.

Required selection criteria

  • Holding a relevant PhD (public health, medical statistics, health economy, medicine and others)
  • Experience in statistics/epidemiology/management of large datasets and related methodologies, including proficiency of data programming using STATA
  • Proficiency in oral and written English

Preferred selection criteria

  • Experience with management and analysis of data from Norwegian health registries or other similar data sources
  • Experience with consortium projects and collaborations in international research groups
  • Experience with other statistical packages, motivation to learn to use new relevant soft- ware
  • Experience in pediatric/perinatal or life-course epidemiology
  • Ability to use a Scandinavian language both oral and written

Salary and conditions

The gross salary for the position of researcher (code 1109) is normally remunerated at gross from NOK 534 400 to NOK 677 600 before tax per year, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund,

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU

The position is subject to external funding.

It is a prerequisite that you can be present at and available to the institution daily.

Approved tests are TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). The following results are required: TOEFL: 600 / writing 4.5 (paper-based test), 92 / writing 22 (internet- based test) IELTS: 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic IELTS test accepted) CAE/CPE: grade B or A.
