About the position

The Department of Computer Science (IDI) has a vacancy for the position of associate professor within Parallel Computing.

We are recruiting in the core area of parallel computing. From the perspective of this announcement, parallel computing refers to the principles and techniques for efficient execution of large-scale computational problems utilizing multiple computational nodes. The data sizes are continuously increasing (big data), which requires ever more computational nodes for processing all this data. At the same time, the computational infrastructure is becoming increasingly heterogenous including GPGPUs, accelerators for AI, data processing units (DPUs), new memory technologies (e.g., non-volatile memory), and new networking technologies.

The focus of this position is on developing models, principles, and tools for the best use of such large and often heterogenous systems.

The position reports to the head of department.

Duties of the position

We expect the applicant to initiate and lead research within the field of parallel computing. We also expect the applicant to take a leading role in research-based education, which includes supervision, teaching both fundamental and advanced courses in computer science, and course development for Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. students at IDI.
