Job description
Applicants are invited for a three to four-year research position with 25% teaching and administrative duties. The job’s home-base is Oslo, and the position is funded primarily by the European Research Council under a consolidator grant on Market Access and Economic Development, headed by Jonas Hjort. Visiting periods at the Department of Economics at University College London are likely possible.
In Norway, the majority of assistant professorships were historically fixed-term appointments for up to four years, primarily intended to qualify candidates for a career in academia. This position is formally a four year position, but the arrangement is flexible and can be shortened to three years (without teaching duties).
We seek a diverse pool of applicants.

- Development Economics
- Trade Economics
- Labor Economics
- Applied Econometrics
- Industrial Organization
- Applied Theory
- Programming, e.g., R, Matlab, Python, or Stata
Applicants should be near completion of the doctoral degree so that the requirements are fulfilled by September 30th 2023. Successful completion of a doctoral degree is a prerequisite for taking up the position.
Applicants must have excellent written and oral proficiency in English.
Interviews with the best qualified candidates will be arranged.
