About the role

Wintec - Te Pūkenga's Department of Animal Technology is currently recruiting a part-time professional staff member to work across its programmes, coordinating work placement for ākonga.

The position is based at our Rotokauri campus, however there may be some flexibility to work remotely for some of the time.

We are seeking candidates who enjoy using their knowledge and experience to develop the skills and knowledge of others in the profession. You’ll help students to become work ready as they study, using your professional skills and industry contacts to provide our ākonga with real world experience.

You’ll be part of the future-focused Animal Technology team, helping Wintec do what it does best – turn out work-ready graduates who can take on the world. Your experience, professional networks and formal qualifications will be key to the work placement coordinator role. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our key industry partners and securing and coordinating educational placement opportunities for our Animal Technology ākonga.

This is a part-time permanent position. This is a .7 position, working 26.25 hours per week.

Do you have up-to-date industry experience and connections as well as a professional background in veterinary nursing or animal care?

With your excellent communication and coordination skills, as well as being able to problem solve and resolve situations as they arise, this could be your next exciting move.

Key attributes and skills for this position include:

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite: especially Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word.
  • High attention to detail to coordinate matching our ākonga to the placement that will best meet their needs.
  • Confident in working with all levels of kaimahi and ākonga.

  • Passion for animal welfare, ethics, and wellbeing.
