HAYWARD COLLEGE

About Us/Mō mātou

Otago is famous for its residential college communities, with 14 different colleges supporting thousands of our first-year students on their tertiary journey.

Hayward College is a close-knit, diverse community of students and staff, a home where your contribution will be valued. Since 1992, Hayward has provided an enriching living-learning experience for Otago students by blending academic support, accommodation, recreation, and social activities into a vibrant and dynamic community of students and staff.

The role/Te mahi

There are few more rewarding roles around than the Warden of a residential college. Creating and guiding a community of bright young people to personal and academic success is incredibly satisfying, as well as challenging.  No two days are the same, and no two years bring the same group of residents – you will never get bored in this environment.

The Warden of Hayward College is a leadership role responsible for providing the best collegiate experience for the residents and wider associated community. The primary role is to support our residents to reach their highest academic potential, while also providing opportunities for residents to experience cultural, sporting, and personal development.

We are looking for an experienced senior leader with proven success dealing with the demands of a multi-faceted operation - managing people and communities.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

Our ideal candidate will:
•    Have experience working with young adults.
•    Be professionally and personally resilient and capable of handling (sometimes) difficult and complex situations.
•    Have demonstrated leadership, management, and organisation skills.

As part of the divisional leadership team, you will also assist the wider division in projects and support.  Ability to influence and negotiate in a practical way is important. A tertiary qualification is essential and experience in the tertiary sector would be a distinct advantage.
