Position Overview

Come join our amazing team of Surgery Nurses; we are looking for someone to join our crew who can provide excellent surgical support and work with the different services provided at Massey Vets. As a Surgery Nurse your main role is to prepare for surgical procedures, prepare patients, coordinate with anaesthesia, assist with SPCA desexings (keep those nursing skills up to ‘scratch’!) and maintain our extensive collection of surgical equipment.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who possesses excellent communication skills, is self-motivated, super organised and has a passion for education. As part of Massey Vets, you will be involved in the teaching of Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Our own nurse education and passions are important to us and we have funds and support for on-going education and a team of 40+ nurses who are supportive and willing to help new staff gain the skills they need to succeed.

Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art, fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise. We are the only 24-hour pet emergency centre in the central North Island so at times we have a high caseload, and our patients require a very high level of nursing care…which makes for interesting work stories! This full-time, permanent position is 37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday with schedules of 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm and 10am-6pm. This position is involved in the on-call roster, which is 1 week in 12 weeks.
