Two positions are available: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Lab.

AUT's School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences is one of New Zealand's largest providers of Engineering education. We currently engage with approximately 3000 students and offer programmes of study from a Bachelor of Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), through to Masters and Doctoral level post-graduate study.

The School is seeking three technicians/senior technicians to join our diverse team of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Information Technology specialists.

Do you have extensive wide thinking problem-solving skills? Can you apply them to solving unusual technical challenges across diverse engineering applications? We need people who can use combinations of off-the-shelf modular solutions and custom in-house hardware and software design to deliver solutions for laboratory learning and research. We need people who can use, configure, fault find, repair, and provide training on specialist engineering equipment.

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2 vacancies). Skills and experience are required in some of the areas of embedded systems design, electronic circuit development, circuit board design, power electronics, RF systems, microcontroller hardware and software, instrumentation, and basic mechanical 3D design.
  • Mechanical Engineering Lab (1 vacancy). Skills and experience are required in some of the areas of materials testing, materials preparation, visual microscopy, SEM, tribology, fatigue testing, surface roughness, DSC, computer hardware, and software configuration.

You will be working with a range of students, staff, and external clients, varied requirements, and unusual teaching and research projects. We are looking for a capable person who has a tertiary qualification (certificate/diploma/degree) or industry qualification/experience appropriate to the level required to perform the job effectively and efficiently.

This role involves providing valuable technical assistance to staff and students to ensure they achieve their learning objectives and receive a positive and memorable experience on their engineering education journey.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $96,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
