Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

We are seeking an energetic and agile Team Leader with significant experience in managing a team of professional mental health practitioners.

The successful applicant can be based at either our Wellington or Palmerston North campuses as you will be working over both campuses, liaising closely with the team leads on the Auckland campus and servicing students nationally. The teams consist of counsellors, social workers and psychotherapists.

Our team offers a supportive and collegial environment with a wide range of involvement and influence in the direction of the counselling services across the university. Massey as an employer offers opportunities for development and growth in this critical sector. As part of a broader health service, the student counselling service collaborates extensively with other teams and other professionals and academic staff across the University.

About you | Ko koe tēnei

To be successful in the appointment you will need:

  • Proven experience managing a counselling service and facilitating a team of clinical professionals
  • Tertiary qualification (ideally at a post-graduate level) in a relevant field such as health and mental health, counselling, psychology, or social work.
  • A good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

You will not carry any regular clinical load but will provide guidance and supervision to colleagues, and participate in shaping the Massey University counselling services generally. You will also contribute to the broader university decision-making where appropriate, by providing regular usage reports, ensuring appropriate clinical coverage, and professional oversight and development.

For enquiries, please contact Mark Rainer - Manager. Student Counselling & Care, Oranga Tauiraat at [email protected]
