Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Team Leader Security Officer Operations to join the Security Team. The role will be responsible for managing and leading the Security Officers, ensuring operational service delivery is efficient, timely, professional and meets the service demands, the team is supported and trained, and developing new business processes are aligned with the strategic objectives of our strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and professional, sound advice on security policies, processes, and systems.
  • Support recruitment, training, and professional development activities of the staff.
  • Lead your team, ensuring they are supportive and know what the expectations are.
  • Manage service delivery through efficient rostering of staff and allocation of resources.
  • Proactively develop and monitor the quality of service delivery, including reviewing incidents and making recommendations.
  • Support and lead incident and emergency response when required.

You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff. The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Key Requirements:

  • Experience in leading and managing teams is essential.
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in Security, Policing or a relevant field is desirable.
  • A strong focus on incident review and developing quality processes is important.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant security legislation is a plus.
  • Project Management and/or business case development is another plus.
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
