Kiwa rā Kiwa rā! He tūranga tēnei ki Te Kura Pakihi ō Te Whare Wānanga o Otākou.

We are interested in receiving applications from individuals who want to inspire the next generation and in particular who wish to see the Māori economy grow for the benefit of whānau, hapū and iwi. You may have theoretical and/or applied academic experience of Māori business including entrepreneurship, OR you may have practical experience working in or with Māori businesses. Ko mātou/Who we are

The University of Otago is New Zealand’s first university and is a leader across all fields of academic endeavour. Business education has been offered at the University of Otago since 1912 and Te Kura Pakihi, the Otago Business School, is looking to develop new approaches to its main business degrees, including in Māori business. Ōtepōti Dunedin has a thriving entrepreneurship and start-up environment, with Te Kura Pakihi establishing a Degree in Entrepreneurship with a strong Māori focus in 2022. Māori business has become an increased focus for Te Kura Pakihi, with the Te Maea : Māori and Indigenous Economy and Enterprise Network now established.

The University has a Memorandum of Understanding with its Treaty partner, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, and has implemented a Māori Strategic Framework . As a University with a national footprint, and campuses in Invercargill, Christchurch and Wellington, along with offices in Auckland, the University has strong relationships with other iwi and Māori organisations. This role, which may be at a senior level, will accelerate the Business School’s responsiveness to the Memorandum of Understanding and the implementation of the Māori Strategic Framework.
