DIVISION OF HUMANITIES
Social Anthropology was established at Otago University in 1919. In 1968, a Department of Anthropology, incorporating both Social Anthropology and Archaeology, was established with a Foundation Chair. Since 01 February 2019, Social Anthropology has been organised into a distinctive programme within the newly established School of Social Sciences.
The School of Social Sciences includes Programmes in Archaeology; Media, Film & Communication; Politics; Religion; Social Anthropology; Social & Community Work; Sociology, Gender Studies & Criminology; and the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies.
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to support teaching of the Population Health (POPH192) paper. In this role, you will assist in the delivery of various teaching and administration tasks which include:
• preparation of teaching materials; and
• undertaking assessment and administration duties.
Your skills and experience
It is expected that you will have:
• A postgraduate Humanities degree.
• Knowledge of medical anthropology at undergraduate level is essential.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds, from all departments and divisions, and at all levels of the institution.
This is a part-time (0.2 FTE), fixed term position for two years available from June, 2019.
