We are looking to appoint a Social Work Tutor to coordinate and assess the fieldwork component of the Bachelor of Social Work, delivered on the Nelson campus. This role needs a social worker who is passionate about the profession, its development and who would thrive on building and sustaining relationships with students, community and social service providers across Te Tau Ihu o te Waka a Maui (the top of the South Island). The position also provides opportunities for research and teaching.

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • To coordinate and assess fieldwork.
  • Planning, organising, delivering and assessing course content. This includes theory and practical, work and study skills.
  • Assessing and supporting learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Managing learner progress toward completion of qualifications.
  • Helping learners to plan for and move into the next step on their training or career pathway.
  • Keeping accurate learner records and completing paperwork to a high standard.

About you / He kōrero mōu

The ideal applicant will be a registered social worker and have:

  • a Master's degree or PhD in any field;
  • extensive practice experience in a range of social service settings;
  • the ability to work independently and creatively to organise, coordinate and manage all aspects of fieldwork practice on the Bachelor of Social Work;
  • established relationships with local social work community
  • preferably have experience in adult teaching.
