The key purpose of the Senior Manager role is to provide strategic pan-University leadership in digital educational design. This is a critical role for AUT with rapid advances in technology such as Generative AI having a considerable impact on educational provision globally.
The Senior Manager is responsible for providing thought leadership to the University on developments in technology in higher education. The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing processes and channels to provide a cohesive University-wide response to the use of technology in learning and teaching to enable student success. The role has a key oversight of design of digital education experiences that will ensure that AUT remains a contemporary and leading university of technology.
The Senior Manager leverages a deep knowledge of teaching, learning and educational design in higher education with a particular focus on digital education design in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand and Te Tiriti o Waitiangi. The Senior Manager applies and aligns this knowledge to the needs of the University and the workflows of the Office of Learning Teaching and Educational Design (LTED).
The role sits within LTED, the University's office of learning, teaching and educational design. LTED's programmes and initiatives span the staff and student experience of teaching and learning across the- whole University. The Senior Manager role reports to the Director of LTED and deputises for the Director as required. As such, the role has leadership expectations within LTED including line management and the provision of leadership support to ensure the strategic and operational success of the unit. The Senior Manager will represent LTED and AUT internally and externally in forums related to digital educational design strategy and implementation. This is a highly skilled role and leadership experience within a centralised learning and teaching unit, and experience with aspects of New Zealand higher education such as enacting Te Tiriti o Waitangi in approaches to educational design are essential.
AUT recognises and respects the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its centrality to the mission, values and work of the University, as expressed through our Te Aronui framework.
