Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Wāhanga Tātai Hauora—Wellington Faculty of Health is currently recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology for Te Kura Tātai Hauora—School of Health
Key Responsibilities
- Play an active role in the development of health psychology content in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Health.
- Conduct research to a world-class standard in health psychology and wellbeing, attracting postgraduate students, collaborating with other researchers and seeking external research funding.
- Develop learning and teaching in health psychology, including developing relevant course content that incorporates Māori and Pasifika perspectives, undertaking course coordination, and supervising students.
- Contribute to the development of the School’s wider academic and strategic direction and planning.
- Contribute to the University’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity priorities
- Contribute to the university’s engagement with stakeholders, particularly in respect of health agencies, including with government, district health boards and partners relevant to our capital city location.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be an active researcher, with a PhD in a relevant field and a record of peer-reviewed journal publications commensurate with the level of appointment.
Key requirements:
- Demonstrated evidence of a high standard of teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising student research at Masters and/or PhD level
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Commitment to the academic discipline and to service to the University, the wider community and, where appropriate, the profession.
- Evidence of successfully attracting competitive internal and/or national level funding for research activities.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of technology and innovation to enhance teaching and research.

The Faculty of Health was established in 2017 to support the University’s vision of Improving Health and Wellbeing in our Communities. Te Kura Tātai Hauora—School of Health launched the Bachelor of Health in 2018, with major subjects in Health Psychology; Population Health, Policy and Service Delivery; Health Promotion; and Health Informatics. The Master of Health began in 2019, in 2021 we launched a new Master of Health Psychology programme and in 2023 the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Psychology Practice will commence.
You will join a growing, multidisciplinary School with a team that is committed to the University’s te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity obligations and values collaboration, innovative thinking, excellence in teaching, and critical and transformational engagement.
