Senior Lecturer (Current AUT Employees Only)

The School of Sport and Recreation is seeking an experienced Senior Lecturer with strong capabilities in data science and computational methods and expertise in a sport, exercise or health discipline.  This is a full-time permanent appointment and will require teaching and supervision to take place across AUT North Campus, AUT South Campus and AUT Millennium.

The successful candidate will have the expertise to enhance our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and provide quality teaching, supervision, research, and industry engagement in the programmes offered by the School.

We are committed to the integration of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and enhancing cultural competencies into the delivery of our curricula, so a high level of cultural sensitivity, along with knowledge of, or a commitment to learn and apply, kawa and tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) across teaching and research is important.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating a student-centred approach to the delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including the supervision of higher degree students.  In addition, they will be expected to:

  • Be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Be able to deliver high quality education that meets the needs of students, industry and professional groups, through leadership and innovative teaching and research in sport, exercise or health.
  • Build research capacity in data science and statistics.
  • Inspire and support student achievement.
  • Develop a strong programme of research.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and working in a team.
  • Have competent organisational IT skills.

Applicants must hold a relevant doctoral qualification, be active in research, have experience in high quality teaching at university level and be eligible to work in New Zealand.

Salary Range: $104,000 - $137,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
