Position Overview
Tāwharau Ora, the School of Veterinary Sciences at Massey University, invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Equine Surgery based in the mighty Manawatu of New Zealand.

In this role, you will provide clinical medicine services to clients of the Equine Group within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as well as provide lectures, tutorials and case-based instruction to veterinary undergraduates, interns and residents. Depending on your background, there is the opportunity to develop or expand on your research focus. Participation in clinical research and related scholarly activity is strongly encouraged. Depending on the appointment level, you will also contribute to course coordination, clinical roster leadership, academic group leadership and mentorship of academic staff.

If you are an experienced equine clinician preferably with an advanced qualification in equine surgery and are passionate about veterinary education, including clinical teaching, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.
Ideally you will:

- Have leadership experience
- Be adaptable and effective at leading and working through change
- Have a record of successful supervision of residents and junior staff
- Have an advanced qualification such as Diplomate status and/or a PhD in equine surgery
- Have an emerging or established research career with appropriate scholarly outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, graduate student completions and grant funding.

Tāwharau Ora, Massey’s School of Veterinary Science (SoVS) runs the Bachelor of Veterinary Science programme, a 5-year full-time degree programme with a current annual intake of around 125 students, increasing in the future. Our programme is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, The Australasian Veterinary Boards Council and the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association. We have a suite of postgraduate programmes, providing Masters and Doctoral level training and a range of residency programmes, as well as providing continuing education to the broader veterinary profession.
