The role/Te mahi

The Faculty of Dentistry invites applications for two fixed-term Senior Dental House Surgeon positions, commencing in January 2025.

As a Senior Dental House Surgeon, you will be expected to be a leader in a team of five Dental House Surgeons, with orientation and mentoring new Dental House Surgeons a part of the role.

You will be a member of staff of the Faculty of Dentistry and work for the University of Otago. It is expected you will further develop and consolidate skills and knowledge in hospital and acute dental care. You will have an opportunity to learn and work with dental specialists in the Faculty of Dentistry, as well as medical consultants in the hospital.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

•    Be registered as a dentist in New Zealand in the general dental practice scope of practice with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and Professional Indemnity for Dentists and have had clinical experience as a dentist since graduation.
•    Previous experience as a Dental House Surgeon, and familiarity with DHB/Health New Zealand and hospital systems in New Zealand would be advantageous.

This is a full-time (1 FTE), fixed term position for one year commencing 7 January 2025, based in Dunedin.

The salary for this position is $85,324 per annum.
