Position Overview

About Us:

The Business and Financial Services team within the Massey University IT Services department provides oversight for a number of commercial and corporate services activities, including but not limited to overseeing the operational and capital budgets, contract administration and co-ordination, IT asset and software license management, charging and reporting of IT services provided to the wider university, management of information and records specifically related to the IT Services department, provision of governance and support for commercial aspect of  technical support.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Analyst - Software Licensing & Agreements to join our Business and Financial Services team. Reporting to the Principal Advisor, this role has a strong focus on software licensing and is responsible for the effective application of policy and processes associated with the business and financial activities of the ITS department.

This is a full-time position and while the team is based on our Palmerston North campus the role could be based at our Wellington.

About the Role:

The position will be responsible for the operational oversight and lifecycle management of software licenses and agreements for ICT services. The purpose of this role is to ensure all University ICT agreements and the products and services they deliver are managed appropriately and in such a way that assures compliance and performance, meets service requirements, and are cost effective.

You will be dealing with a large set of ICT licenses and agreements that are often technically complex; can involve significant costs and risks; are part of a highly competitive marketplace; often have high audit and compliance overheads; and deliver goods and services which continually change. Your business analysis, attention to detail and understanding of compliance will be required every day.

The salary band for this role is $67,184 to $95,514 based on skills and experience.

Areas of focus include:

  • ICT Agreement Oversight: Provide operational oversight of the lifecycle management of ICT agreements and licenses and the products and services they provide.
  • Software Assessment and rationalisation: Provide initial assessment of requests for new software, ensuring that software meets the businesses requirements, privacy and security standards, and that risk and duplication of services is mitigated.
  • Compliance: Measure, test and monitor agreement and licensing compliance, ensuring that information, systems, processes, and usage foster a license compliant environment.
  • Performance: Measure, test and monitor agreement and licensing performance, ensuring that agreements and licenses are structured and managed in such a way that they are efficient, cost effective and are providing value.
  • IT Asset Management: Developing and maintaining Software Asset Management (SAM) systems.
  • Sector Engagement: Engaging with like organisations to benchmark and collaborate on product usage and supplier arrangements, to leverage purchasing power.

You will bring:

  • Qualification - Tertiary level degree in IT or Business is desirable.
  • At least 5 years work experience in an analyst or IT support role within a large or complex organisation.
  • Business systems analysis skills together with a high level of computer/ICT literacy.
  • Experience or familiarity with legal documents.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing and maintaining procedures and practices.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to translate data into high level, meaningful and succinct summaries.
  • Solid Spreadsheet modelling and data analysis expertise.
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, management, and peers.
