Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Administrator to join the Ferrier Research Institute based in Gracefield, Lower Hutt and in Kelburn, Wellington.

Approximately 70 professional scientists and graduate students make up our dedicated research group. The Institute undertakes chemistry and molecular biology projects focussed on improving the world we live in, predominantly through health applications. The admin team is highly valued by the wider Institute as their role contributes significantly to delivering on this mission. We are a diverse group who thrive on variety, teamwork and camaraderie.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and administration of all HR processes at the Institute.
  • Admin Office support, troubleshooting and leadership in a small team of Administrators.
  • Process and system improvements.
  • High quality document preparation and production.
  • Organisation of events.
  • Health and Safety oversight.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will have significant experience in administration with a range of relevant skills.

We are looking for someone who is confident building relationships with individuals across all levels of the University.

You will be a pro-active self-starter who can manage your own workload. Good judgement and being organised will be attributes you value as much as we do.

The Senior Administrator will report day to day to the Institute Manager. The role will also work closely with the Institute Director, Deputy Director, members of the leadership team, Institute Administrators, as well as stakeholders outside of the Institute.

Key Requirements:

  • Great people skills.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Ability to manage own workload.
  • An interest in science would be advantageous.
  • Full NZ Drivers licence.
