Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent full time School Manager – Pou Hautū for the School of Health – Te Kura Tātai Hauora. Based at the University’s Kelburn campus, the role will manage all aspects of administration and operations for the School, including the leadership of the School’s professional team and the provision of services to students, staff, the wider University and external organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the School of Health’s strategic direction is developed in line with the University’s overall strategic plan and is implemented successfully and consistently with te Tiriti of Waitangi obligations.
  • Work with the Head of School, Deputy Head of School and Programme Directors to plan and manage appropriate staffing levels in the school.
  • Oversee School finances and support the Head of school and individual research grant holders to manage their budgets.
  • Work closely with the Divisional HR team to support the Head of School with all administrative aspects of people management.
  • Develop and monitor the school’s academic programmes in relation to programme administration, timetabling requirements, statute amendments and quality assurance.
  • Offer high quality, efficient, accurate and timely financial, HR, operational and administration leadership services to the School and Faculty as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Staff management experience.
  • Financial and budget management experience.
  • Experience in administrative roles.
  • Demonstrable customer service skills.
  • Demonstratable understanding and working knowledge of computer packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, and databases.
