Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a School Manager in Te Kawa a Māui. The School Manager will be responsible for a busy administration team and for ensuring effective and efficient support for the School, its academic staff and students.

The successful candidate should have significant administrative experience, preferably at a senior level in the tertiary education sector.

The successful candidate should also have proven experience in financial planning and budget management and staff management experience and knowledge of HR practices. Some knowledge of te reo Māori (however, basic) preferred.

Please note that this is a full-time permanent position and only applicants who are legally entitled to work in NZ on a permanent basis, will be considered.

Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kawa a Māui. Welcome to the School of Māori Studies at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. As a part of the Wellington Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences we offer a broad range of courses in te reo, tikanga and Māori society from pre-degree to postgraduate level. The Bachelor of Arts offers three undergraduate majors, in Te Reo Māori, Māori Studies and Māori Resource Management. Our qualifications include the Tohu Māoritanga , Bachelor of Arts, Master of Indigenous Studies, Master’s by thesis and PhD. Our academic staff come from a range of disciplines and are actively engaged in a variety of research projects. Staff at Te Kawa a Māui represent a range of iwi Māori and have projects and connections with our iwi, hapū, whānau and communities more broadly.
