Safer Communities Programme Advisor

Contribute to a positive student experience and safe campus community by developing and leading behavioural education initiatives to promote healthy relationships and inclusion. 

Mō te tūka | The role

Working in our Student Experience Team, we are seeking applications for an energetic advisor who is passionate about using evidence-based practices to educate young people about healthy relationships, respect and inclusive behaviours.

You will be leading a team of six casual staff (students) who are there to help educate other students through peer-facilitated programmes.

Some tasks of the role include:

  • Use evidence-based pedagogical practices to develop and implement initiatives.
  • Ensure all behavioural education initiatives meet the University's obligations under the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Leaners) Code of Practice 2021.
  • Review and lead operational management of the Respectfully Lincoln sex and consent programme to ensure it remains fit for purpose.
  • Prioritise the needs of Under 18, Māori, Pasifika, disabled, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalised students when developing behavioural education initiatives.
  • Engage and collaborate with external organisations in relation to best practices.
  • Provide regular reports on student progression through behavioural education programmes and achievement against business objectives.

This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln Campus.  Remuneration for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 per annum. 

Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or at least three years' experience in a similar level role
  • Knowledge of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 and its application.
  • Experience using the Five Ways of Wellbeing, Te Whare Tapa Whā and/or Fonofale health models to support wellbeing education.
  • Experience leading initiatives to address racism and discrimination and increase cultural connections.
  • Experience leading initiatives & delivering programmes to support access, inclusion, diversity and equity.
  • Experience managing peer leadership programmes and supervising students.
  • Comprehensive and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
