The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Researcher Investment Advisor to join our team to support research funding applications, grant writing, and champion research impact. Our mission is to enable  our research staff to achieve impact and create opportunities to bring this to fruition. In this role you will be working closely with scientists to enable them to deliver research that makes a difference for New Zealand. You will help science staff understand government and industry-led funding opportunities, create high quality funding applications, deliver staff training workshops, and support reporting and analysis to our funders.

You will work closely with senior science leaders to plan a pipeline of research funding applications and champion an impact focused way of working. This is an opportunity to support science and be an integral part of seeing an idea come to fruition.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A postgraduate degree preferably in a science or a social sciences field; or a degree in a science/ social science field with prior experience working in a research delivery, research support or project management capacity within a university or public sector research provider.
  • Expertise in supporting organisations to secure investment from government and other contestable or commercial sources would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a high proficiency in writing succinctly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage a mixed portfolio of activity, juggling competing demands, and meeting deadlines whilst working independently.
  • Excellence in developing and maintaining effective relationships, internally at all levels of an organisation, and externally with government and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to summarise complex information, interpret policy and strategy statements, and identify and escalate risks appropriately.
