The Research & Innovation Office is a central department at AUT, with responsibility to manage and grow external research income for the University through high-quality grant applications and by fostering strong research partnerships.

We are looking for a committed Research Coordinator to provide key support to the research advisory staff leading key funding portfolios; this support will span activities from the application stage, through to contracting and post-award support for externally funded research projects.  It is an opportunity to provide support to a dedicated team of research management staff and contribute to AUT's research culture.

The position monitors and disseminates information about potential funding sources, develops relationships with key research advisors and internal clients, assists in the development and review of research grant proposals, and oversees contracts through to successful completion. Duties include:

  • Disseminating and communicating information about funding opportunities
  • Supporting the funding application process and Research Advisor and portfolio teams including photocopying/scanning, portal entry, courier and document tracking requirements
  • Updating and maintaining the external research funding records in the University's research management system
  • Monitoring of contract reporting and project closure
  • Co-ordinating internal funding panels, workshops, stakeholder meetings and other research funding events
  • Providing support to RIO for events including internal and external meetings, workshops and presentations
  • Coordinating communications to internal and external clients as required
  • Support for travel bookings and office supplies/management

It is preferred that the appointee have familiarity with the academic research environment and some experience in research management.

AUT has several campuses - the main campus in the heart of Auckland city, two sites on the North Shore, and one in Manukau, South Auckland. The role is based at the City campus but the successful candidate will be expected to spend time at all campuses.
