Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Research Assistant in the area of behavioural neuroscience and psychopharmacology. The successful applicant will be based in the School of Psychology and will work with Professor Juan J. Canales and an interdisciplinary team of researchers on the neural basis of drug addiction using experimental models of the disorder. The School of Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington is a premiere centre for research and education in New Zealand and is ranked in the top 100 psychology schools worldwide.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

Candidates should hold a First Class Hons degree in Psychology, Neuroscience or Biology, or a good Master’s degree in one of these disciplines. They should possess excellent English skills (both written and oral) and skills in scientific data analysis. Previous laboratory experience in the field of behavioural neuroscience or behavioural pharmacology, and relevant techniques, is essential.

  • Relevant experience in data collection, analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of students and researchers.
