Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a one-year fixed-term Research and Data Adviser to join the Development & Alumni Relations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of biographical, organisational, and financial sources, including online database services, internet websites, library and government sources and other repositories of public information.
  • Undertake regular data tasks such as updating constituent information, resolving duplicate records and resolving bounced emails to ensure the Raiser’s Edge database contains accurate and up-to-date donor and alumni information.
  • Work with the Development and Alumni Relations Team to ensure requirements for engagement activities such as events and guest lectures are supported with relevant and accurate data and research material.

This role provides an opportunity for a junior adviser or ambitious new graduate who has a ‘can-do’ attitude with a passion to learn and develop. You’ll need to be detail-oriented and comfortable working independently while contributing to a strong team culture.

Key Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate high integrity and professionalism in working with confidential information.
  • Eye for detail and attention to accuracy, especially around financial data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven computer skills in Microsoft suite, i.e., Excel (to intermediate level), Word, Outlook.
