REGIONAL ACADEMIC STAFF MEMBER - Early Childhood Education

We are looking for someone to add value to the ECE Diploma/Degree programme in a full-time permanent role in one of our South Island regions. You will be joining an existing team of academic staff who teach across a range of educational programmes the early childhood, primary and secondary sector.

You will be responsible for:

  • Teaching courses in the Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) modality utilising interactive technology and best practice professional standards for online distance learning
  • Providing feedback on course materials and assessments as required
  • Using innovative technology and appropriate interactive teaching strategies to facilitate student learning
  • Providing students with targeted and specific support that develops their knowledge and understanding of subject matter
  • Visiting students on practicum in the region
  • Working collaboratively within a team environment, that includes our contracted marking workforce, student mentors and other staff
  • Providing feedback to Programme Delivery Managers on course and programme delivery matters
  • Researching, either through your studies or relevant independent research

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in ECE preferably with experience as a leader in an early childhood centre.
  • A relevant qualification at Masters or above
  • High level of skill using computers and applications
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A high level of judgement, flexibility, self-motivation and responsiveness
  • Cultural capability skills and commitment to implementation of the Treaty of Waitangi as it applies to the education sector
  • Passion for education
