Workshop Technician Engineering|Electrical (Tauranga)

Permanent Part Time, 16 Hours Per Week

Faculty of Primary Industries, Trades and Infrastructure

Toi Ohomai delivers quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students, across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne, and 68 delivery sites across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato. Toi Ohomai is now a subsidiary organisation for Te Pukenga and part of a transformational change unifying all 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across Aotearoa; together with other work-based, provider-based and online learning. We are seeking a motivated, energetic Workshop Technician with great people skills to provide assistance in the implementation of our New Zealand Diploma of Engineering programme (civil/electrical/mechanical) within the Faculty of Primary Industries, Trades and Infrastructure.

This is a permanent part time position 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) supporting teaching staff in the preparation of physical resources, supervision and maintenance of equipment. This role is based at our Tauranga Campus.

The key responsibilities for this position include:

· Maintenance of Engineering Facilities 

· Effective student support

· Tutor and programme support

The skills, experience and qualifications required for this role include:

· Good verbal and written communication skills

· Competent computer skills

· Strong organisational skills

· Ability to work well with a diverse range of people 

· Full Driver License (car)

· Workshop experience is a plus but training available 

· One of the qualifications listed below is a plus, however, training is available if the candidate is working towards registration.

The qualifications preferred but not necessary for this role include:

· Registration classes: Electrician, Electrical engineer, or EST (Electrical Service Technician).
