Te Ahu o te Reo Māori is a Government-funded initiative that aims to grow and strengthen an education workforce that can integrate te reo Māori into the learning of all ākonga in Aotearoa. Nationwide delivery of this initiative is being rolled out from 2021, across 10 regions of New Zealand, by multiple providers. In partnership with ngā iwi o Te Tauihu, NMIT has been named the provider for the Nelson/Marlborough region.

Te Whiwhinga mahi / The opportunity 

NMIT are seeking applications from experienced project co-ordinators to support the delivery of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori at NMIT, for a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months from February 2022. This job can be undertaken remotely.

Your role will be to: 

  • Support the successful delivery of the Te Ahu o te Reo Māori project at NMIT through the provision of project co-ordination and administration duties.
  • Actively contribute to project planning by providing specialist input to assist the manager and others to meet the project objectives
  • Coordinate and manage the of collection and dissemination of information to and from stakeholders to the project such as results, feedback, data, reports or surveys and take actions to remedy errors, recommend improvements or correction as required to meet the project objectives.  
  • Manage and interpret data according to guidelines, to ensure information is secure, accurate and can be easily interpreted by users.  
  • Work closely with all stakeholders or suppliers, as it relates to quality and value for products and/or services provided, to meet the project objectives. 
  • Establish and maintain effective, positive internal and external working relationships, including regularly meeting with key stakeholders, as required, to meet the project objectives.

To be successful in this role you will need to: 

  • be comfortable working in a kaupapa Māori environment. 
  • be an experienced project co-ordinator, ideally in an adult learning environment. 
  • have effective organisation, project planning and time management stills.
