Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Professor in Māori Designed Environments to join the Wellington School of Architecture. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-level academic to lead this new programme and help shape the future of architecture and the Built Environment in Aotearoa. This is a new position and the successful candidate will provide leadership of our new Māori Specialisation within the Bachelors of Architectural Studies and Masters of Architecture.

The position calls for extensive experience in academic leadership with a focus on Mātauranga Māori as it relates to designed environments. You will bring a reputation and profile as an accomplished researcher and/ or senior practitioner with the capability to lead the Māori Designed Environments major.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and development of this new programme.
  • On-going research activity.
  • Academically rigorous teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Actively engage with iwi, hapu, industry, government, professions and diverse communities.
