Position Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Professor in Grassland Science to join the School of Agriculture and Environment in the College of Sciences at Massey University's Palmerston North Campus, New Zealand. The position is funded by the T.R. Ellett Agricultural Trust.

The successful applicant would provide world-class research and teaching in Agronomy and Plant Science within the School of Agriculture and Environment, with a particular emphasis on grassland research.  The improvement of the breeding, use or management of ryegrass species (Lolium spp.) is specifically encouraged.  The successful applicant would also provide strong leadership for research and supervision of postgraduate students and mentoring of emerging/early career researchers within the School.

This position includes a moderate level of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in an approach that creates increased numbers of students in Grassland Science.  The position includes significant funding for postgraduate research and supervision for at least five years.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in Grassland Science or a related area.  They are also expected to have a practical understanding of working within a research/extension/teaching environment; have a good understanding of New Zealand and global pastoral and agricultural industries, have an excellent research review, analysis and dissemination background with an impressive track record of publishing in relevant internationally-renowned agricultural journals.
