Our department

The Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Otago is the longest established department of its kind at a New Zealand University, is the World Health Organisation collaborating centre for the Western Pacific region and is the only New Zealand University to offer a Sport and Exercise Nutrition programme (undergraduate and postgraduate) as well as Foodservice management and International nutrition at undergraduate level.
Undergraduate degrees include BAppSc, and BAppSc(Hons) in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, BSc and BSc(Hons) in Human Nutrition. In addition, there are also a range of postgraduate options in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and PhD level.
The role
We are seeking to appoint a full time, permanent Professional Practice Fellow in Sport and Exercise Nutrition. In this role you will be responsible for:
• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Developing new courses, teaching materials, and assessing student performance.
• Creating and maintaining links with industry and community groups to enable successful student learning and project-based placement.
• Contributing to the effective and efficient running of the Department and its responsibilities within the University and wider community.
Your skills and experience
You will ideally have extensive experience in Sport and Exercise Nutrition with demonstrated teaching and/or mentoring, as well as:
• A postgraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, or closely related field.
• Be eligible for registration as a Nutrition Society Registered Nutritionist, Sport and Exercise Nutrition Registered (SENR), or Registered Dietitian.
• Have a commitment to quality University education.
