About our team/ Mō te tīma

The Department of Psychology has an excellent research culture and has been ranked in the top 50 Psychology Departments in the world, since the inception of the QS world rankings. We boast excellent computing and technical facilities which support the department’s large and varied teaching and research programmes.

Within our Clinical Psychology Centre, we provide a clinical psychology training Programme for postgraduate students to obtain the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology degree and become registered psychologists in the clinical psychology scope of practice in New Zealand.

The role/Te mahi

We invite applications from suitably qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the permanent, part-time position as a Professional Practice Fellow within our Department.

Reporting to the Head of Department, you will help support teaching and training within the clinical psychology training programme, working directly with the Director of Clinical Training and the Clinic Director.
 
In this role you will:

•    Provide supervision of clinical psychology practice to 5th and occasionally 6th year clinical psychology students.
•    Provide clinic cover which involves set rostered time spent in the clinic.
•    Provide lectures, within your areas of expertise, to students within the clinical psychology training programme.
•    Provide mentoring to 6th year clinical Psychology students during their internship placements and liaise with their placement supervisors, in corroboration with the Director of Clinical Psychology Training.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To be successful in this role candidates must be a New Zealand registered Psychologist in the Clinical Psychology Scope of Practice with at least three years of clinical experience, preferably with most of this in mental health settings.

Candidates are also expected to have:

•    Appropriate professional experience.
•    Excellence in case conceptualisation, formulation, and diagnosis.
•    Established relationships with the local clinical community is desirable.
•    Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated ability in teaching and training in appropriate areas of current need.
•    Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
•    A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and to equal opportunity.

This is a permanent, part-time position (0.4 FTE per week) during the University’s semester time only (February to November each year). The position is available from February 2022.
