Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Specialist to join the Cybersecurity Group in Digital Solutions on a permanent basis.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
We are looking for a candidate for the role of Principal Cybersecurity Specialist. This role involves leading cybersecurity solutions implementation, collaborating with partners and stakeholders, and significantly influencing the University's cybersecurity architecture. The specialist provides expert technical guidance in various cybersecurity areas, ensuring the effective development and execution of the University's cybersecurity strategy. Key responsibilities also include mentoring junior team members and promoting a continuous improvement culture.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Demonstratable experience in a Cybersecurity related role preferably within medium to large IT organisations.
- Security system design experience in medium to large business environments.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively and professionally with customers.
- Proven ability to establish policies and procedures and create appropriate documentation.
- A solid understanding of networks, firewalls, proxies, SIEM, Cloud, Endpoint controls, DLP concepts and technologies.
- Experience & expertise with Fortinet, Cisco, Microsoft, Azure and SIEM products.
- A sound knowledge and understanding of Operating Systems, Networking, Applications and enterprise services.
- Exposure to Security Orchestration and Automation, Threat Intelligence or Threat Hunting.
