Kōrero te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an experienced practice nurse to join our clinical team on a 12-month fixed term basis.

This is a clinical role, working with our awesome team of Nurses, GP's and Support staff to contribute to the delivery of effective quality primary care to Victoria University of Wellington students in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment. You will also work closely with Student Counselling, the Health Improvement Practitioner, the Health Coach and other Student Support teams.

Key requirements:

  • Broad experience in a primary health care setting.
  • Experience in triaging and assessment of acute needs.
  • Experience in sexual health and contraception would be an advantage.
  • Empathy and interest in working with a diverse student population.
  • Experience and interest in working in Māori and Pasifika health an advantage.
  • A genuine interest in younger people's health care needs.
  • Familiarity and competence using Primary Care Medical Records Software.
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of NZ.

We provide wide-ranging MDT primary health care to the University student community of 22,000. We belong to Compass Primary Healthcare Network and around 9,000 of our students are enrolled patients. We also work with a diverse group of 2,500 international students. Never a dull moment in this vibrant community.

This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.

Role Description
