The Postgraduate Team

UC is in the process of establishing Te Kura Tāura | UC Graduate School, transitioning from the more operations focused Postgraduate Research Office. You will join our busy team within the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Innovation (DVCR) office. The DVCR office, in conjunction with the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, provides over-arching vision and leadership in the core academic and research missions of the University. They lead the strategic direction and planning for learning, teaching and research and ensure that the strategic and operational linkages between teaching and research are strengthened and enhanced.

What is it like to be a UC Researcher Development Team Leader ?

We are a large and complex organisation, so no two-days are the same!  Supported by your team in the Postgraduate Research Office/Te Kura Tāura you will enable your portfolio to operationalise the UC strategy.  By building trusted relationships, you will support the development of leadership capability and confidence through the provision of high quality and sustainable student- and staff-focused services.

The Researcher Development Team Leader is a key role in the development of Te Kura Tāura. You will lead your team to develop and implement proactive, customised and data informed practices to support the academic research journey of graduate research students. You will be responsible for the development of key milestones across the graduate research journey, integrated within a whole of degree profile of transferable skills and career development. You will work to provide key expertise in the development of supervisory practice and professional development at UC to support our academic supervisory practices.

 

Tell us what you can bring to our whānau

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience relevant to learning and teaching, educational development, and/or adult education. You will have a background in pedagogy and research in higher education. You will have an understanding of strategy development and implementation of new programmes to support student success, acknowledging the unique needs and experiences of the diverse graduate research student cohort. You will have a high degree of initiative and an ability to develop effective professional relationships, paired with excellent communication skills. Experience and technical competence in the development of online educational programmes, and in person workshops is preferred.
