About our team/Mō te tīma

Since its establishment in 1905 the Department of Physiology has grown to become one of the largest Departments in the University, being home to approximately 100 staff. We make major contributions to the undergraduate and postgraduate education of students in science, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medical lab sciences, nutrition, and physical education.

The role/Te mahi

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong background in Neuroscience or neuroendocrinology to join our team.

The successful candidate will work on a Health Research Council funded project, led by Dr Rosie Brown and Professor Dave Grattan. The project will investigate the role of prolactin action in the medial preoptic area of the hypothalamus in regulating maternal care in females.

Successful candidates will have completed a PhD in a neuroscience field. An ideal skill-base will include prior experience in stereotaxic surgery and fibre photometry.

Generic skills required include animal care and handling, stereotaxic surgery, behavioural testing, and immunohistochemistry.

A thorough approach to laboratory practice and recordkeeping is essential. Evidence of ability to prepare scientific papers for publication is also required.

The project requires a high-level of personal independent input and the ability to work co-operatively with other team members to reach the research goals.

This position is full-time (1FTE), fixed term for 3 years. The position is available from 1 November 2022 (negotiable).

The salary for this role is $78, 960 per annum.
