Position Overview

The Riddet Institute is a world-best New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence in food and nutritional sciences, providing fundamental scientific understanding and training for a new generation of science leaders.  The Institute brings together scientists across disciplines and organisations, providing a “NZ Inc” approach to food science research, and it generates knowledge and capability that transforms the New Zealand food sector.

We are seeking a high-achieving Postdoctoral Scientist with a strong background in food science or biotechnology or protein chemistry/biochemistry to undertake research on isolation, characterisation and functionality of novel proteins produced by emerging plant biotechnologies. The role requires effective communication and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work co-operatively in teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our industry partner, a new biotech start-up, Miruku, founded by multidisciplinary team of eminent scientists and entrepreneurs.

The salary will depend on experience but will be in the range of Postdoctoral Fellow, with appointment for a fixed term of two years.
