Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Landscape Ecology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data analysis and synthesis
- Manuscript preparation and contract reporting
- Field management and student support
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be a critical thinker and problem solver. You will work effectively independently and as part of a team to advance fundamental understanding of landscape factors affecting wetland forest dynamics. You will be passionately driven to communicate the results of your research, especially through the timely publication of high-ranking peer reviewed journal articles. You will maintain excellent communications with land-holders and project stakeholders. You will effectively support junior members of the team through efficient management of field activities.
Key Requirements:
- PhD in landscape ecology or related discipline
- In depth knowledge of mapping and GIS
- Advanced statistical analysis in R
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Communication with diverse stakeholders and partners
- Some experience with species distribution models
- Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
- Strong organisational, management, and interpersonal skills
- An adaptive approach to work and an ability to tackle a variety of tasks
- Strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
