Auckland Centre for Financial Research

The Auckland Centre for Financial Research (ACFR) strives for excellence in empirical finance and applied financial econometric research. Its members publish in leading finance journals, and present at top finance conferences around the globe. The ACFR currently has 10 internal members, 7 external members, 2 postdocs and several PhD students. The ACFR further hosts several international conferences that attract many leading academics and each year welcomes numerous international research visitors. As a Research Fellow at the ACFR you will contribute to its research profile and its reputation for research excellence.

The ACFR is currently looking to expand with 2 postdoctoral researchers. These Research Fellows will work on a specific project (jointly with members of the ACFR) for a duration of 2 years. In addition, it is expected that the applicant will generate other research projects and apply for external research funding where appropriate. The applicant will make significant contributions to the research environment and will establish him-/herself as a leading researcher in the chosen field. The successful applicant may be involved in data collection, modelling, reviewing literature, and the writing of academic articles that are to be submitted to leading finance journals. The successful applicant may also be involved in other activities that the ACFR engages in.

The successful applicant will have completed (or be near completion) of a PhD with a strong empirical focus. It is desirable for the applicant to demonstrate research excellence through publications or advanced paper submissions. In addition, it is preferred that the applicant has strong econometric software/programming skills in a suitable econometric software package. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and he/she should be able to work well as part of a research team. The ACFR subscribes to many of the main finance databases.
